What is the My Ideal Home Network?
The My Ideal Home Network is comprised of many partnered rental listing websites across North America. When you list with Rent BC not only can your rental listings be viewed on www.rentbc.com but it is also accessed from across North America through our Off-Campus Housing, general rental and other partnered websites.

How is my account information used?
Your account information is used for our records only. Your account information is seperate from any information required on your rental listing. We respect your privacy and do not sell or share your information.

When I try to login nothing happens. Why?
If you have a personal firewall running on your computer such as "Zone Alarm" or "Norton Internet Security" you will have difficulties logging in and navigating our website. The easiest method is to disable your firewall for the duration of your visit to our site, but be sure to reactivate it once you have placed your listing.
You can also add our website into your "safe zone"
. Also, please deactivate any pop-up blockers and make sure JAVA is enabled.

I am a landlord. How do I list my property?
Landlords can add their rental property to our website by creating an account with us. Simply register online by clicking 'Create An Account' on the home page. Once you have an account setup, a password will allow only you to access your account. If you have already setup an account with any of our networked sites in the past you can log into your account and add your listing.

I am a property manager. How do I list my properties?
Management companies can add their rental properties to our website by creating an account with us. Simply register online by clicking 'Create An Account' on the home page. Property Managers can also contact us by phone or email to setup a volume discount and more personalized service.

What do I do if my city isn't found in the database?
Please contact us with the desired state/province, and region
and we will promptly add your city to our database. You can also contact us if you believe your city is listed in the incorrect region.

How long is my property listed for?
A one month listing will be listed for a max of 30 days (or the amount of time you have chosen, if longer). You have the ability to de-list your property at anytime.

How do I add photos to my listing?
Login with your user name and password and click 'Add Photos' on the management tools menu. Then browse your hard drive for the file you wish to upload. Our site will only display .gif or .jpg formats. Unlimited photos can be added to your listing for free to enhance your listings and give it higher placement in the search results.

How do I check my listing stats?
Login to your account and click 'Stats' on the management tools menu. Select which listing you wish to view the stats for.

How do I check the status of my listing?
Login to your account and click 'View' on the management tools menu. If the listing is online the status will be 'active' and will be green. A yellow listing indicates that is is incomplete.
Please contact us to activate your listing.
A red listing is inactive and is not displayed online at that time.

Help! I can't remember my username and password.
If you signed up with a valid email address, then click 'Member Login' on the home page to retrieve your username and password. Email addresses are case sensitive, so be sure to type it in the same way you did upon signup.
If you do not have an email address, contact us to retrieve your information.

The website says I have a duplicate account. Why?
If you have listed with any of our networked sites previously you are already in the database. Please login with your previous username and password.

How do I change my personal information?
To change your personal information, click 'My Details' on the management tools menu. You can modify your password and update your email address here.
For all other modifications, please contact us
and we will make the necessary modifications. If you are temporarily changing your contact information, you may do so by selecting 'alternate contact' while modifying your listing.

Login and click 'Modify' on the management tools menu to edit your listing.

How do I pay for my listing?
The quickest and easiest way to pay for your listing is through e-commerce on the website. This method is safe and instantaneous. If you do not have a credit card you may also mail us a cheque.

Yes. Rent BC is always FREE to search. We can be searched from any Internet connection at any time.

What are the newest listings?
The newest listings are the listings that have been placed in the last 48 hours. They can be searched from the home page.

How do I search?
Begin your search by clicking 'Search Listings' on the home page. From there select the location you wish to search in. You can also 'Quick Search' a major city or search the newest listings from the home page.

Can I refine my search?
Yes you can. If your search results are to high, click 'Search Again' or 'Refine Search' at the top of the search results page to narrow your results. Under 'Refine Search' you can:
Narrow your geographical search
Re-specify housing style
Specify your specific price range
Specify your minimum number of bedrooms
Specify your special requirements, such as disability access, fireplace, close to schools and transit...

Do you have any offline listings?
No. All of the listings are placed online by landlords accross the country. If you cannot find any listings in your area please check back often as new listings come in daily.

Can I print a feature sheet of a listing?
Yes, you can. Once you find your desired property, click the printer logo under the contact information. This will pop up a printer friendly version of the listing. This feature is handy for Property Managers to use for potential renters.

Can I send a listing to a friend?
Yes you can. Once you find your desired property, Click on the 'send to friend' button under the contact information. This property will be emailed to your friend.
